Dear Sir/madam,
I installed the CJT on my WordPress before purchase the license. What should I after I purchase the license and remove the message “Like CSS & JS Toolbox Free? Upgrade CJT-Free” on top-right of the screen?
Best regards,
Kelvin.

Hi Kelvin,
Please overwrite your existing copy either using FTP or the WordPress Plugin uploader. The easiest way is via the WordPress plugin uploader. If you want to be on the safe side with protecting the code blocks work you have already done, then you may consider backing up your database OR at least take ‘copy and paste’ backups of your code blocks.
If you decide to use the WordPress plugin uploader, it is recommended to first click the gear cog icon called ‘General plugin settings’ and make sure that the ‘Wipe out data’ checkbox is NOT checked. By keeping this UNTICKED will retain all your code block information when you deactivate and delete the CJT Free plugin. This is more or less a precautionary measure, so if you do not have any code blocks or templates then this action is not required.
Once you have deactivated and deleted the CJT Free plugin, upload and activate the CJT Dev plugin that you purchased and downloaded. Go through any upgrade steps if required. You should now have the new CJT Dev plugin installed and all of your original code blocks intact.
Please use your license key so you will be alerted to updates from now on. Thanks for purchasing.
Kind Regards,

Hi Damian,
I installed the CJT to another site, how can I do the upgrade? During the installation and upgrade to 7.2 version, there is no asking for the license key input.
I have the CJT Dev license key.
Best regards,
Kelvin.

Dear Damian,
I tried to activate the license again but still prompted “Could not activate License Key due to the server error!”. I have no right to control the server setting, so need your help again. I did remember it occurred before but no solution at last. I didn’t know how you can do that.
Best regards,
Kelvin.

Hi Kelvin,
I have just this minute sent you an email.
Please only use your first name in the Name field and then your license key.
I think there is a bug when first and surname is used.Let me know how it goes. If you are still having problems, please provide temporary admin login credentials via email at: support@css-javascript-toolbox.com

Hi Damian
I was having the same registration problem, and the “Could not activate License Key due to the server error!” seemed to occur whenever a space was used in the name field – removing it allowed it to activate correctly
Cheers

Dear Damian,
After update the version to 7.2, the Dev version downgrade to Free version, so I can’t find the way to key in the license, I did a lot of code for the site. What should I do to reinstall the Dev version and won’t affect the current setting to the code? Will the code be remove if I uninstall the Free version and then install the Dev version again?
Best regards,
Kelvin.

Hi Kelvin,
There are two ways to go about it. Using FTP, simply overwrite the existing free ‘css-javascript-toolbox’ folder in plugins with the Dev version of css-javascript-toolbox, then Activate.
OR use the WordPress plugin uninstaller deactivate and delete the free version and then upload the Dev version. My first reply at the top of this post mentions a safeguard in how to protect your existing code so that your existing code will be safe. I will copy and paste it below to show you the part of the post I am talking about:
_______________________________________________
If you decide to use the WordPress plugin uploader, it is recommended to first click the gear cog icon called ‘General plugin settings’ and make sure that the ‘Wipe out data’ checkbox is NOT checked. By keeping this UNTICKED will retain all your code block information when you deactivate and delete the CJT Free plugin. This is more or less a precautionary measure, so if you do not have any code blocks or templates then this action is not required.Once you have deactivated and deleted the CJT Free plugin, upload and activate the CJT Dev plugin that you purchased and downloaded. Go through any upgrade steps if required. You should now have the new CJT Dev plugin installed and all of your original code blocks intact.
_______________________________________________If you are still concerned about your code being deleted accidentally, please backup your database (or use a database export plugin).
Another easier way is to copy and paste your code (from the code blocks) into a text editor and save this file. That way, if you need to, you can rebuild the code blocks again from the text file.Kind Regards,

Dear Damian,
Sorry I forgot the uninstall method, when I deactivate and delete the Free version, it prompted
CSS & JavaScript Toolbox by Wipeout Media (will also delete its data)
Are you sure you wish to delete these files and data?Only the button “Yes, Delete these files and data” can continue the uninstallation process. I remember the checkbox of Wipe Out was unchecked. Should I continue to click the Yes button?
By the way, is the backup and keep the code and its relationship? I mean condition I applied to each code block.
Best regards,
Kelvin.

Dear Damian,
I finally can install the Dev version and register it. After that, I update the version to 7.2 and it return to Free version again, should I not do the update or I should ask you for the new version for Dev? Please advise how I can download the latest version for Dev.
Moreover, the button “Yes, Delete these files and data” is quite misleading the user to stop the uninstallation and scare the data will be deleted.
Best regards,
Kelvin.

Hi Kelvin,
Can you tell me what version of CJT Dev do you have? You can look at the readme.txt file to find the version number in there?
As for your feedback regarding deleting a plugin, where the button says “Yes. Delete these files and data”, I do agree with you that it appears quite daunting. Thanks for pointing that out.
Ok, I will look into re-wording the instructions in a way that will not scare users to uninstall and delete the CJT plugin. I am sure others have been apprehensive about uninstalling and deleting too. Thanks Kelvin.

Dear Damian,
My CJT Dev version is 7.1. Is it eligible to do the upgrade?
Best regards,
Kelvin.

October 3, 2014 at 10:13 PM #10763Damian BakerParticipant
Hi Kelvin,
CJT Dev 7.1 has the bug where it will automatically notify you to update to the 7.2 CJT Free version on WordPress.org. However that said, I notice in the backend that you have successfully registered your license key so your CJT Dev 7.1 should update to version 7.2 just fine. It only happens when users do not register their license key. So you should be fine to update to 7.2 via the WordPress plugin updater.
Please also note that you should be able to login and click into your purchase history to download the latest version manually, which is CJT Dev version 7.2. This is found when you hover over your username and then clicking Purchase history. Else you can just click this link: https://css-javascript-toolbox.com/purchase-history/

Hi Sylwia,
That’s interesting.
I noticed you are running the older version of CJT Dev. Tell me, did you migrate to the newer and complimentary version of CJT Dev called CJTe Developer?
The instructions for migration is shown in the newsletter that you may or may not have received.

Hi Damian,
Thank you very much for your answer.
Yes, I got the instructions long time ago but the upgrade process did not worked as described.
Unfortunately I still do not see any update as is written in part 2 of the instruction.
Should I overrite it via ftp or so? I’m afraid it would make things even worser. Please be so good and take into account that I am in hurry.
Maybe there exists fast workaround. I desperately need my CJT developer version. 🙂Kind regards
